This week's selections:
For me, the answer is absolutely. There is always something to pull out and laugh at - something in the backstory or a cheesy video or a crazy lyric. We do try to seek out the humor. However, the music that came out between 1975 and 1987 is the music that I find myself going back to over and over. I was handed a radio when I was pretty young and our house was always filled with music. A lot of the songs, such as Christopher Cross singing the song from the movie "Arthur" that we discussed in episode 48, bring back specific happy memories from that time. Yacht rock or soft rock from all those years ago (and it shocks me to think of how much time has passed some times!) has and will always have a special place for me. This is definitely the music that I turn up when I hear it and I have owned quite a lot of it on various formats from vinyl to MP3 for a long time. Most of my picks here are still my favorite songs although I appreciate and enjoy music across all genres, especially jazz.
